COMPOSER - MUSICIAN - ARTS ADMINISTRATOR

Oliver Muller is a versatile composer, arranger, and conductor from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, whose work has been commissioned and performed by institutions including The Australian Voices, Queensland Conservatorium, and Southern Cross Soloists. His music spans a wide stylistic range—from didgeridoo quintets to choral and orchestral works—anchored by a simple yet expressive language that reflects his emotive musical imagination.

Rooted in a rich and eclectic musical background as a chorister, percussionist, jazz drummer/bassist, and now bassoonist, Oliver brings a distinctive voice shaped by diverse perspectives. Recent highlights include a celebrated orchestral commission from conductor Johannes Fritzsch, upcoming performances with Adelaide Horn Jam, and a 2025 premiere in the Sydney Opera House’s Utzon Room by The Hourglass Ensemble.

Now based in Naarm (Melbourne), Oliver is the Operations & Music Coordinator at the Australian Youth Orchestra, contributing most recently to their 2025 International Tour to venues including the Vienna Musikverein and Het Concertgebouw.

A first-generation Australian of Dutch-Indonesian heritage, Oliver’s creative life is equally informed by a deep affection for Australia’s flora and fauna, and a commitment to finding joy, playfulness, and meaning in the smallest of moments.
